Brandon Mitchell biography
Brandon Mitchell built an unconventional path to professional poker, having previously served as a highway patrol officer before transitioning to the tournament circuit. His breakthrough result came in June 2023, when he captured a $327,817 title at a Wynn Las Vegas event, establishing himself as a serious tournament competitor.
He backed that up in the summer of 2025 with a fifth-place finish worth $303,773 at a WSOP High Roller event, before capping the year with the biggest score of his career: a victory in the 2025 Arizona State Poker Championship, a $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em event held at Talking Stick Resort in his home state. The tournament drew a record-setting field of 3,546 players, and Mitchell outlasted all of them to claim a career-best $525,700, one of six finalists to earn a six-figure payout.
Mitchell competed under Team Mitchell on the StakeKings staking platform, defeating Team Jones in the event's team competition format along the way. The win pushed his career live tournament earnings to nearly $1.5 million, capping a remarkable rise for a player who began his professional life enforcing traffic laws rather than playing cards.
