Schuyler Thornton biography
Schuyler Thornton is an American poker player from Corpus Christi, Texas, who built the foundation of his game through years of online multi-table tournaments and high-stakes cash games rather than frequent live no-limit hold'em travel. That relatively low live profile changed dramatically in 2025, when the 36-year-old won the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas, a $10,400 buy-in event that drew 1,865 entries, for a career-defining first-place prize of $2,258,856.
The victory marked his first WPT title and more than doubled his previous lifetime tournament earnings, pushing his career live cashes to approximately $4.3 million. Reflecting on the run afterward, Thornton was characteristically candid about the role of variance in his win, saying, "I ran hotter than anyone could ever dream of running.
I had it every single time," acknowledging the extraordinary run of good fortune that carried him through the massive field to claim one of tournament poker's most prestigious modern titles.
