Clement Richez biography
Clement Richez is a French professional poker player who first drew wider poker media attention at the 2023 WSOP Main Event, where his distinctive tattoos and aggressive style made him a standout figure on the feature tables during a run to 50th place for $188,000. He returned to the WSOP the following summer determined to go further, and in 2024 he delivered in dramatic fashion, winning the inaugural $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championship – Event #89 – against a then-record field of 3,177 players.
Entering the final day fourth in chips, Richez maintained a commanding stack throughout the day, closing out the win with aggressive heads-up play against Adam Owen for his first career WSOP gold bracelet and $1,041,989.
The victory produced one of the tournament summer's most emotional scenes: Richez, shaking and fighting back tears during his winner's photo, later admitted he hadn't even checked what first place paid before the final hand, while his rail – including his wife, who had flown in from France specifically for the final table – draped him in the French flag amid chants of "Allez!
